Pack for Paws

We were thrilled when we were approached by business owners Duncan & Bev Bonnett, who own the stunning Rhino Retreat Clarens to start our very own Pack for Paws project.
This is a very simple idea, that can make a huge impact and it helps to support animal veterinary welfare, right here in the eastern Free State.
All you need to do is pick up a few of the items from our Wishlist (see below) and then use any leftover space that you have in your suitcase, car boot or trailer to pack supplies that we desperately need and bring them to where you are staying.
It honestly could not be any easier than that and your donation, will have a significant and positive impact on animals of the poor.

Book NowOur Wishlist Items
- Dog or cat food (it can be tinned food, but dry food is best) – any brand, we are not fussy!
- De-wormers for both dogs and cats
- Tick and flea medication and/or tick and flea shampoos
- Old blankets and towels (always needed), of course we would love new ones but happy to take whatever we can get
- Collars and leads (any size, please note that regarding collars, ones with old fashioned buckles are best. Sadly, the plastic snap ones, many people don’t understand how to resize them, and this can lead to the collar becoming ingrown into the skin, which then leads to more problems)
- Food and water bowls
- Toys (for dogs but cats like and appreciate them too)
- Newspapers, these are used to line animal cages in our clinic
- Automatic washing powder (we always have a lot to clean and launder)
- Rolls of black bags
- Any old carrying cages or pets’ beds that you don’t want or need
In addition to the above items, we also accept second hand books. Please note that we only accept paper back, hard copy non-fiction. We don’t want coffee table, reference books, cook books etc as these do not sell! So, you are welcome to bring any unwanted books as well as games and puzzles with you and we will gladly take them off of your hands.
Plus, we have two Thrift Shops that are open once a month in Kgubetswana, Clarens and Fouriesburg. Please bring any unwanted clothes, shoes or household items (in good order) that you would like to donate. Click here for more info about our Thrift Shops
